Dow Jones Sustainability Index

In 1999, US-based Dow Jones Group launched the Dow Jones Sustainability Index, an international sustainable development index which includes approximately 230 listed companies. This financial information group, founded in 1882, publishes the Wall Street Journal and, since 1984, a series of stock indices, including the famed Dow Jones, the world’s oldest stock index based on average mean variations of the thirty largest companies listed on the New York Stock Exchange. Dow Jones publishes an extensive variety of other indices, including one for Internet stocks and one for Islamic markets.
