What are impacts investment funds and offerings?
Impact investment products are aimed at solving social or environmental problems. While they are currently predominantly offered in private markets there are offerings across a spectrum of six different asset classes in Canada: cash and cash equivalents, private debt, public debt, public equity, private equity and venture capital. Given that the sector is still a small niche in traditional financial markets, existing products do not always align cleanly with mainstream definitions of asset classes (Source : State of the Nation: Impact Investing in Canada, p. 37).
What are the strategies used by impact investment funds and offerings?
Impact investment products and offerings use impact investment strategies. The other strategies do not generally apply, with the exception of publicly traded equity impact investment offerings, which could use engagement strategies.
