What are individual stocks?
When you buy stocks or “equities”, you become a part owner in a business. You may be entitled to vote at the shareholders’ meeting and will receive any profits the company allocates to its shareholders. These profits are called dividends. When you sell the stock, it may have increased or decreased in value from the time you bought it.
What are the RI strategies used by individual stocks?
Whether you use a full-service broker or an online broker (do-it-yourself) you can apply exclusionary screens and best-in-class. You can also use shareholder engagement, although it is unlikely given the time and knowledge required. You could also do sustainability themed investing and some of the other impact investment strategies.
