Water Conservation: Cascades uses an average of 10 m3 of water per metric ton of paper 6 times less than the Canadian industry consumption levels, which average 60 m3. What's more, the company has adopted hydrogen peroxide and sodium hydrosulfite as alternatives to chlorine bleach in the whitening process and thus produce effluents which are less toxic to aquatic ecosystems. Accountability: Cascades is a participant in the Carbon Disclosure Project. Since 2006, the company reports its greenhouse gas emissions and the measures it is taking to reduce them. Respect for Workers: Cascades Inc., with its workforce of over 12 500, has been named to Mediacorp's list of Canada's Top 100 Employers.
