Primary types of RI products

This section presents the primary types of RI products available to investors, and offers information on these product types to help investors identify product types that are appropriate for them.
There are essentially six responsible investment product types available to Canadian investors: Mutual funds, segregated funds, exchange-traded Funds (ETFs), individual stocks and bonds, and impact investment products. Impact investment products can be subdivided into a variety of sub-product types. Each of these product types will use one or some of the responsible investment strategies. Impact investing is both a strategy and a product type. Although there is some overlap in the product categorization that follows, – and there will likely be more going forward as the impact investment sector matures – it is nonetheless useful information for investors who want to know more about the products.
